John was a great friend for over 50 years. We went to school together & made friends when we were both house swimming captains at Leggatts Way school in Watford. It was a good school....if you had 2 ears you were a cissy! We both started work together at WEMCO in Watford as electrical apprentices & after serving our time, both ended up as electrical design draughtsmen in the drawing office. Respectable citizens we had become lol. 1973, & the North Sea oil industry was booming, so John & myself left the comfortable boredom of Watford to enter the contracting world & the film star money. £1-50p p/hr, big bucks in those days. We went our separate ways jobwise, but stayed good friends, playing squash every week, & I was Johns best man at his wedding to Lesley. We worked on a few contracts together over the years including the holy grail of all contracts, the Shah Deniz project in Paris. John was really into his golf & I know he made a lot of friends through the game. A great friend & a true gentleman who I know will be sorely missed by his family & myself.
